A Fighter's Gift of Life
Donation protected
Pain. Yellow skin, yellow eyes. Fluid build-up. Itching. Dying. Some of the things that happen when your liver is failing.
There a lot of people who are suffering, dying as they wait on the transplant list. Some people wait YEARS to get a new liver -- Kevin House is changing that for one incredible person, his best friend's dad.
It's the fight against liver failure and Kevin is taking over the last round with a solid left hook as he will be donating a portion of his liver. Instead of fighting in his first kickboxing match, Kevin is ending another person's suffering by giving an AMAZING gift of life. This means that not only is a man's life saved, but the quality of life is dramatically improved. The recipient gets to actually live life, not just existing by surviving. Kevin is truly a hero!
The surgery will require Kevin to travel back and forth to Edmonton and take a lengthy time off work, and the Carlson Gracie Team would like to help him with these expenses. Just think about all the airfare and parking, plus the meals he'll need (because as well all know hospital food is the worst), all while he's away from home. He took it upon himself to give so selflessly, so we would like to show him how much we appreciate and love him!
Please keep in mind that the surgery will be quite evasive and the recovery will be HARD, so Kevin will need tons of support, both physically and mentally! There'll be a lot of everyday tasks that will require a lot of assistance -- cooking, cleaning -- not to mention going back for further testing. But it will all be worth it!!
We will be setting up a couple fundraisers on his behalf (yes Kevin, this is happening...) and on behalf of the recipient whose life will be forever changed. So please, show your support of this truly wonderful human being!
Kevin, the world needs more people like you. We all have the ability to save someone's life, but you acted on it. You are the light at the end of the tunnel and you've given hope, not only to your recipient, but to those who are waiting. You are an inspiration both in and out of the ring and, as always, we will be cheering you on ringside!
Love,
The Carlson Gracie Team
