Kevin Kreowski for Mayor Recount
Donation protected
Our candidate for mayor of Pismo Beach, CA lost by two votes to the incumbant. There has been a single recount in this county in the past 30 years. While Kevin is a potential disruption in local politics that energizes his supporters and frightens his opponents, his personal demeanor compells him to accept his defeat with class and dignity.
Defeat? Who loses to an incumbant by two votes? While the SLO County Clerk-Recorder could (and should) authorize a full recount at no expense to the candidate, she has chosen not to. But the county has no prescedent for this. There has been a single recount in 30 years. This election was decided by two votes. Perhaps this is an opportunity to provide transparency for the SLO County ballot count and validation process.
Candidates are disuaded from asking for frivolous recounts with monetary barriers. But a two vote disparity is not frivolous. A single manually-counted vote results a tie. Every invalidated ballot deserves scrutiny.
That scrutiny will cost this candidate up to $3K. This campaign is to fund that scrutity for this candidate. Below was his message to supporters on social media this evening. Please show your support by funding the recount.
"Ok gang I really need your input. Looks like county is holding steady with the two vote lead. A recount could cost up to 3k. I didn't spend that much on the campaign. I would have to scramble and raise money. I don't know if it's the right thing to do. Thoughts?"
