Kevins MND Journey

On 8th December 2023, our dear brother Kevin received the heartbreaking news of being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, MND is an uncommon progressive disease that effects the brain and nerves mobility and speech, it is life limiting with no cure.

Kevin is 51 from Portroe in Tipperary, his partner is Caroline who has become his carer, he has 3 children Chloe 29, Hayley 25 and Colin 19

Kevin has worked hard all his life as a skilled carpenter both in his native Tipperary and Dublin, he was always willing to give anybody a hand, he can now no longer work as he has lost all power in his left arm and feels it is going into his right arm. Kevin has always been a fiercely proud independent man all his life and is not the type of person to ask for any help, however he is now at the stage where he has countless doctors and hospital appointments both locally, and in Limerick and Dublin, this is a lot of travelling and fuel expenses and a more suitable adapted car would make these journeys alot easier for him.

We as a family have researched some possible treatments in America, which of course are very expensive but it is something we would like to explore, as with this awful diagnosis he would be willing to try anything at this stage to give him extra time and alleviate the constant pain he is in
