Help Kevin Wren beat leukemia

If you know Kevin Wren then you know he always has a story to tell, and usually has a few smart aleck remarks for whatever conversation he’s involved in. He is kind beyond need, has helped 100’s of people over the years, offering a place to stay when someone needed a place to lay their head for a day, or longer if need be; a car to drive when theirs was broken down; rides to various places; food when needed; money if that was the need; he helped people move, visited them in hospitals, showed up at funerals, weddings, and gatherings of all kinds. He listened when people told him their problems, and was happy for them when they told him their successes. He loves sports, OSU, and the Cincinnati Reds, so if you wanted to talk about that, he would chat with you all day. Have a kid that needs help with sports? He’s there, throwing a ball, or offering advice on how to swing a bat. He lives in an old house that is in horrible need of repair, and drives an older car, doesn’t go many places, or do many things, yet he shares what he has. Everyone that knows him can probably tell a story about how he did something kind for them, because Kevin is that good guy that everyone came to for so many things, and he always said yes.
Now Kevin needs help.
Kevin, was diagnosed a few weeks ago with CLL (Chronic lymphocytic leukemia). This is just another blow in what has been a very bad year. He has been struggling with a business that has floundering, bringing it back to life, he works 70-80 hours a week to keep get it going again, so he can pay back his debts, and maybe someday earn a living. People treat him like crap, he just keeps on going, doing all he can to do the right thing. No bankruptcy, no settlements, just keep moving forward, however slowly it may be. Now he needs to slow down the time he spends working, and take care of himself for a little while, and he really needs some help and support to do it.
The doctor Kevin is seeing for his CLL had planned to start treating this disease after a discussion and weighing options. Unfortunately, Kevin's health declined quickly, and he went back to the doctor sooner than planned. That's when he found out that his CLL is more aggressive than originally thought. The treatment needs to start NOW! He needs to slow down now.
He is being treated at The James at OSU, and is being offered a test drug that has had very good success. He would be receiving this in conjunction with an FDA approved drug. His odds are very good that this will go into remission and this disease generally is treatable.
Kevin will not be able to work the 70-80 hours a week while being treated, but the bills will not go away, in fact they will grow due to the medical bills, and yes insurance will cover some, but not even close to all of it. Kevin has helped so many people over the years, my hope is that he can get some of that back now. It would sure give him some hope, and peace of mind to know he does not need to add another bill. Every little bit will help, even 5 bucks! If you can’t donate, keep him in your prayers! We sure need those, we want to keep him around a long while still!!
