Keyana is going to Climate Farm School!
Donation protected
Hey everyone! Most of you know that I’m super passionate about environmental work. Well, I applied to Climate Farm school and I was accepted! While I qualified for some financial aid, there is still some out of pocket expenses that I have to pay before my classes start in September. I am hoping my community can step in and help!
The program is a hybrid 4-week program combining online sessions with getting your hands dirty on a working farm. I’ll be learning about the climate impact of food systems and the solutions within them.
I will also get to spend a week at Midnights Farm. Midnight’s Farm is a 100-acre property on Lopez Island, Washington, part of a thriving island agriculture community in the San Juan Island chain. Located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people, there is a long history of ocean and land-based food production in the region. The farm hosts the only Department of Ecology-certified community-scale compost operation in San Juan County. The farm has also experimented with supplementing cattle feed with asparagopsis seaweed in collaboration with a start-up to better understand the methane emissions reductions from cow burps as a result of this feed supplement. This farm is constantly researching, educating, and expanding practices in the regenerative farming direction.
The money I raise with this GoFundMe is going towards my week's stay at the farm.
Im so excited to continue to learn and grow in my passion for saving the planet!
Thank you in advance to anyone who is able and willing to help. <3
"We stand tall because we are planted on the shoulders of ancestors, most unknown to us, their journeys anchored in the legacy of the famous and forgotten. When our dying day comes and the fever of life has passed, we will return to the topsoil that brought us forth, joining in yet another way the great community that birthed and sustains us. We are born to belonging, and we die into it; our lives are braided into all that is. "Biosocial" is the kind of creature we are: Apart from human community implanted in an Earth community embedded in a cosmic community, we cannot, and do not, exist. "
