A few weeks ago, Graycen began to complain about pain when he would use the bathroom. After monitoring him for a few days we took him in for a first round of testing including ultrasound, x-ray, and urine analysis. The doctors initial diagnosis was Bulbar Urethral Stricture, a condition uncommon in children. The second round of testing on January 7th confirmed it.
The proposed solution is surgical repair of the stricture, and we are working with two surgical specialists to schedule the procedure as soon as possible.
Graycen is expected to spend 2 - 3 days in the hospital and 2 - 3 weeks at home recovering. This means that he will miss school and we will possibly miss work to care for him. We expect the out of pocket expense to be significant and any help from our family and friends is welcomed.
