Karley needs brain surgery

Donation protected
This is my granddaughter Karley, who turned 5 in July, and has lived a life of limitations and
pain. This long road started when she was just a year old.  Constant
headaches, joint pain, muscle weakness and chronic fatigue take over
her daily life, as well as many other physical issues. Over the course of 5 years Karley has seen many different types of doctors at Syracuse, Rochester, Boston Childrens Hospital and was admitted to Janet Weis Children's Hospital at Geisinger after a seizure when she was just 3 years old.  She has had countless extensive blood work-ups done trying to find some answers for her severe pain and physical limitations. After a recent MRI we have found an answer. Karley has Chiari Malformation.
Chiari Malformation(Key-AR-ee Mal-fore-MAY-shun) is a serious neurological disorder where the bottom part of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull and crowds the spinal cord, putting pressure on both the brain and spine and causing many symptoms. There is no cure for Chiari, but Chiari decompression surgery will hopefully improve her quality of life. Karley has seen one neurosurgeon in Syracuse and will be seeing another one in New York City. Karley will have to undergo brain surgery. She will spend a few days in the hospital before returning home to recover as well as many follow up appointments.
Travel, surgery costs and missed work will weigh heavy on her family.  We ask for help to relieve some of that strain so they can focus on
what’s important, and that’s Karley.
