Three years ago Patrick Laundry, my husband of 33 years, sustained an injury while at work after an equipment failure.  Patrick suffered from a displaced achilles tendon and torn pectoral muscles.  The displacement of the achilles caused an existing bone spur to burst through a protective callus, causing extreme pain.  Surgery was recommended.  Following surgery, Patrick would sustain chronic pain caused by permanent nerve damage.  For the next year and a half, Patrick was on workmen's comp and recieved numerous treatments including P.T., accupuncture, and pool therapy.  The assessment following surgery and treatments showed that my husband had lost 20% of ankle mobility and would not find relief for the nerve pain.  The lack of mobility causes Patrick to feel extreme pain upon exertion--a devastating injury for a professional truck driver, a lifelong career.  Lack of successful treatment options lead to a settlement and complete dismissal from vocational rehabilitation services.  Patrick sought work.  However, due to the restrictions and onset of pain when fulfilling his job's requirements, he found himself unable to sustain employment.  This has caused our family to fall behind on financial obligations.   Patrick continues to battle the severe pain brought on by his injury.  He found work, however "working through the pain" has created many medical setbacks (most recently, pneumonia that went septic causing secondary complications, forcing Patrick to miss more opportunities for work and our family to fall further behind).   Patrick is currently healing from a surgery to correct one of those complications.

Due to financial responsibilities, our family, consisting of Patrick, myself, our twenty two year old son with autism, and our four year old granddaughter, need immediate help.  We have begun selling things from our home, down sizing vehicles and other attempts to help reduce debt.

Patrick is expected to be out of work for the next several weeks.  If you are able to contribute to our family, we would greatly appreciate it.
