Support displaced Afghan families in Kabul
Support displaced Afghan families fleeing to Kabul
“TODAY, EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED. MY FAMILY IS HAVING DISCUSSIONS ON WHAT TO PACK, WHAT TO SELL, WHAT TO LEAVE BEHIND, AND WHAT ROUTES TO TAKE OUT OF KABUL, I HAVE FELT ILL ALL DAY, TO THE POINT THAT SLEEPING PILLS AREN´T WORKING. I´M TERRIFIED FOR ALL OF US.” (SARA WAHEDI, 12.08.21 @SARAWAHEDI ON TWITTER)
History is repeating itself, and we are witnessing the collapse of Afghanistan. More importantly we are witnessing the dreams and lives of millions of innocent Afghans being crushed.
By now (13.08.21), 18 of Afghanistan’s 34 provincial capitals have been taken over by the Taliban, a ruthless regime with no regard for human life and dignity. People worry for their lives and flee from provinces in which the Taliban gain power. Weekly over 20.000 families are in seeking refuge in Kabul, living in parks and on the streets with no roof over their head and with no means to earn a living.
We, Afsana Rezaie, Sarah Griesbaum, Ludmilla Khodai, Razma Rastagar and Maha Maalouf who have memories in Afghanistan, and a special connection with its people, are calling for your support. We are launching this humanitarian fundraising initiative, and we are hoping to gather money to be distributed to the many people fleeing to Kabul with nothing. Your donations shall provide food and emergency supplies for the internally displaced in Kabul – people who had to leave their homes and most belongings, in search of a safe haven. We are in touch with trustful activists such as the volunteering community “Hashar” (www.hashar.tamveel.com) based in Kabul and identified The Afghan Volunteer Women‘s Association (https://www.afghanischer-frauenverein.de) to whom the funds will be directed to act on our behalf, with full transparency and accountability. As we raise funds and distribute supplies (food, water, tents etc.) on the ground, we will keep you updated on how your contribution is making a difference. Please donate, please share, please raise awareness and show your solidarity with the Afghan people!
