Khadijah is Moving On Up!

My name is Khadijah Rose, also referred to as DJ Delish. I'm a black trans femme non-binary person from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and I'm writing to y'all because I'm going through a lot right now and need your assistance.

First off, I must mention that my mother has MS (multiple sclerosis), which has advanced to the point that I am partly responsible for her care. She was diagnosed with the disease late last year. I have to commute from West Philadelphia to Odessa, Delaware, which is neither close by, convenient, nor inexpensive. Your contributions would enable me to be there for my mother when she needs me the most by assisting me in covering the expense of transportation for my care.

In the midst of all of that, I am also moving into a new apartment in the Philadelphia region, but I am having trouble affording the expenditures associated with moving in, including a portion of the security deposit.

Your donations will assist me to pay off the outstanding expenses from my old house and ease the burden of finding a new one because I, unfortunately, encountered a hard patch around the end of 2022 and went behind on payments.

It might be challenging to find the community and/or financial stability in the work of a Black Trans/Queer artist. Even though we are the source of so much of the contemporary language and beat, the nightlife business does not provide Black Trans/Queer musicians with much financial independence, and society as a whole does not fully support them, even though it consistently takes from us.

Your support would also help me in obtaining my driver's license, which is an important step toward autonomy and economic security. As someone who has been homeless in the past and knows many individuals who have dealt with it in recent years via community work, I understand how critical it is to have safe and affordable housing, particularly for Black Trans/Queer people in Philadelphia.
