Khadijah Jones

Donation protected
Our family is devastated by the sudden loss of Khadijah Jones. It’s our only wish that Khadijah gets the honorable memorial she deserves, while giving us the opportunity to say our final goodbyes. Due to the sudden death, we were not prepared for the emotional and financial cost of a funeral and burial. We humbly ask for donations for Khadijah’s memorial and are reaching out to our neighbors to help us.

Khadijah had an incredible soul – she always knew how to make everyone laugh with her sense of humor; she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her children; she loved dancing and music; doing hair and makeup for others -- which all brought joy to everyone around her. She loved hard and would protect those she cared for to the ends of the earth. She was a unique social butterfly that made every stranger around her feel included. Khadijah was a fighter, and she always protected the underdog. She was full of potential and had many goals, aspirations and dreams, that she will sadly never fulfill.

Although she was only 28 years old, Khadijah had experienced so much hardship. Her most life-changing experience was a diagnosis of a rare form of breast cancer. Khadijah was a fighter; we watched her undergo chemotherapy and lose her hair. She ultimately beat breast cancer by having a double mastectomy, while battling with her mental health as a result of the diagnosis. Unfortunately, she had fallen on hard times and isolated herself from our family. Without having a clue of where she was, she returned her three children to their respective fathers, and lived in the streets of Seattle with the intention of getting back on her feet.

On the night of her passing, Khadijah fell asleep while using a generator to stay warm in a camper with no ventilation; she passed as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. Although our family is grieving, we hope that Khadijah's death will bring awareness to the plagues of homelessness and mental health. Due to the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us live paycheck to paycheck, and one small mistake could leave us destitute.

This has been a real struggle for us, and we are humbling ourselves by asking our community, friends, family, coworkers and you, our neighbor, to help Khadijah be laid to rest in the way she wants and deserves.

We intend to bury her next to her cousin, Alize, at Mt. Olive cemetery in Renton, Washington. They were close in life, and would love for them to be together again, as that is what Khadijah would have wished for.

Help us reach our goal of giving Khadijah a proper burial. Time is limited and we need to hold the memorial as soon as possible. Please donate and help us send Khadijah to her final place of rest so she can finally have the peace she deserves.
