Fundraising for Khaled Elnemr's Brain Surgery

Hello there, I’m calling out for help to raise funds to go towards helping Khaled and his family with the medical expenses of Khaled’s necessary brain surgery and medical treatment in Egypt.

I am Shereen Al Khadem, daughter of Khaled Elnemr’s first cousin Suzy.

After seeking the professional opinions of many doctors, Khaled received the diagnosis of a Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) located in his brain. This is the tangling or malformation of blood vessels in the brain that are subsequently weakened and at high risk of bleeding at any time causing a multitude of complications including stroke or worse. Khaled inevitably requires two medical surgeries to treat the AVM.

The cost of healthcare is very significant for the average Egyptian. These surgeries will cost 150,000 Egyptian Pounds ($7100AUD), (with the average monthly salary being 9000 Pounds ($660AUD) and a high cost of living, this is not a realistically achievable expense for the Elnemr family without some help.

*(Update 20/02/2023 - Through negotiation with the hospital and some donations from Khaled's other side of the family, we have been able to reduce our target to $4300 - much more achievable and we're a quarter of the way there!)*
