Khaleesi's emergency surgery vet bills!

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Alana, and Khaleesi is my 3 year old Great Dane (who is my best friend and registered emotional support animal). You may recognize me on social media as the girl who does the restaurant stories, in which Khaleesi has made a cameo or two.

On March 19th, Khaleesi was rushed to the emergency vet with sudden-onset gastric dilation-volvulus (a lethal condition also known as bloat). Her stomach had twisted, torn, and wrapped around her spleen, and she had gone into sepsis. By some miracle, she made it through the surgery despite a 5% chance of survival, for which I have thanked every god I can think of for. She lost her spleen and 30% of her stomach, spent 7 days in the critical care unit, needs to be fed her meals through an esophogeal tube while she heals, and has a very long road to recovery ahead of her, but she's here with us today.

I am doing everything in my power to make sure Khaleesi makes a full recovery and lives a long and happy life, but the cost of her surgery, hospital stay, and long term post-care have changed mine and my family's lives significantly. The cumulative cost of her care (which is still growing as we continue her medications and tube feedings) is equivalent to a private college semester tuition. I have taken up second and third jobs to keep up with monthly payments while my entire family pitches in with the round-the-clock care Khaleesi needs.

Khaleesi came into my life last year when I REALLY needed her, and now I need to return the favor. She's the sweetest little baby in the world who did not deserve what she went through, but deserves to live this second life to the fullest.

100% of the funds will go to covering Khaleesi's medical bills as of April 1st. All money raised past the goal will be donated to The Pet Fund, an organization dedicated to funding veterinary care for those who cannot afford it.

Thank you so much - even a penny helps me and my incredibly kind and caring family who are helping me and Khaleesi through this. Love y'all, and please schedule your Great Danes for a gastropexy if you haven't yet <3

Here she is happy and healthy pre-bloat:

Here she is looking ICU-chic with a cool-looking nose tube like in Dune:

And here she is on her first day home with a cone of shame and a blank Gabapentin stare:

And here she with a good attitude despite a hurty tummy:
