In loving memory of Khalil Wigfall

Hello, my name is Pastor Cathy Keenan, and my family has recently endured an unimaginable tragedy with the untimely passing of my grandson, Khalil Wigfall.

On Sunday, March 2, 2025, our lives were forever changed. Khalil, a bright and ambitious 17-year-old, was tragically taken from this Earth in the midst of his mother’s mental health crisis, triggered by her struggles with PTSD. This heartbreaking loss has devastated the Wigfall and McDowell families, and we are now reaching out for support to honor Khalil’s memory and provide him with a dignified farewell.

Khalil was an extraordinary young man whose life was filled with promise and potential. A student at Hiram High School, he was eagerly anticipating his graduation and 18th birthday. He had a passion for basketball, video games, motorcycles, and most of all, spending time with his loved ones. His contagious smile and compassionate heart touched everyone who knew him.

His mother, a veteran of the Army Reserves, bravely fought her own battles with PTSD. Tragically, her struggle led to both her own passing and the devastating loss of her son. If you know someone struggling with PTSD, please encourage them to seek help—not only for themselves but for their loved ones.

Khalil’s father, Steven Wigfall Jr., and other family members reside in Syracuse, NY, where his final resting place will be. This means we must cover the costs to transport his body, in addition to the funeral expenses, as we wait for the police to conclude their investigation and release him to us.
