GNE CLS Great North Air Ambulance Collection
Go North East Team Chester-le-Street are raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance during the COVID-19 lock down. There are so many worthwhile charities and organisations we can all support during these difficult times but we have chosen the Great North Air Ambulance. Critical care does not stop for the COVID-19 and the air ambulance team are on standby throughout this crisis and ready to fly to anyone who requires life saving care just as they are every day.
As many of you know The Great North Air Ambulance is funded entirely by people like us and is not subsidised by the NHS. It costs almost £5 million pounds a year to run this service and with nearly 1200 call outs. That's over three per day! That's potentially three lives saved. Like most charities they had fundraising programmes planned but these have been cancelled due to the outbreak. They have estimated that they will see a drop in donations of around £100,000 per month during the crisis. They are tirelessly working to ensure that the critical care team are there to be called upon when needed, but they cant do this without our help.
We have decided as a team to do a Chester Marathon to help raise money. Obviously we cant all go out and run together but we can individually collate our efforts for this great cause. We are looking for as many of the team to utilise there daily exercise to go out and run or walk a mile, take a photo of yourself during it and post to our Facebook group. You could even use one of the many apps available to post your results. Let’s all use this time positively and keep fit. If your a couch potato like me it could be your inspiration to get started.
The closing date of this will Thursday 7th May just before the Clap For Carers. It's a great cause team, I hope you can get involved.
