Everyone, I would like to tell you a story, about my brother. Not only a brother though....a husband, a dad, a son, a friend, and a veteran to this country.

Dear friends, family, and community,

Early November I found out that my beloved brother has cancer, specifically Nasopharyngeal poorly differentiated carcinoma. This type of cancer is rare and Ryan has been put into the high risk category. His cancer extends from the back of his nose all the way down the right side of his neck to about his collarbone. The cancer is in his lymph nodes but, we are extremely grateful that the cancer has been found and that Ryan will be starting treatment ASAP.

Ryan is an amazing husband to Alexis and father to their two little boys; Louis (five) and Hudson (one). Ryan has served his country for over 14 years through the Army Reserves and completed a 13 month tour in Iraq. His devotion to family and freedom are evident. Additionally, Ryan is a beloved cheer coach. He has served in his community in so many ways, Ryan is a completely selfless person.

During this time treatment will consist of a mix of chemotherapy and radiation five days a week for a minimum of seven weeks. The chemotherapy helps the body react more effectively to the radiation therapy. Scans will be conducted at the end of his treatment to assess how successful treatment was and if surgery will be necessary to remove his cancer.

Our family believes strongly in good Karma, we are hopeful for it to be our family's turn on the receiving end as we are going to need the support. Between upcoming medical bills, time off work (approximately four months), and basic needs, the financial toll will be stressful. We want to make sure Ryan focuses on healing and is able to take a break from being “the breadwinner” as he fights this battle with cancer.
