Kia Feeds The People Program

Hi ya'll!
My name is Kia. Most of you have seen my face all over and most recently on Food Network's "Chopped ". You know me from my time as a young executive chef in Manhattan and as Cherry Bombes former Culinary Director. I am now embarking on a new mission to start my non profit, the Kia Feeds The People Program.
Kia Feeds The People is a budding non profit that aims to fight food apartheid by getting quality, organic produce and pantry items to the underserved, the Black and the QTPOC communities in Brooklyn, NY. KFTPP isn’t doing anything that has not been done by our elders and predecessors. We turn to the work of Georgia Gilmore and her Club from Nowhere and the Free Lunch Program initiated by the Black Panther Party.
By Fall 2021, KFTPP is aiming to raise $300,000. With funding we can roll out the first phase of our mission:
Pack 200 boxes of organic produce to be distributed
Distribute 50 turkeys and 50 chickens for the next holiday season
Provide hot meals for the unhoused
Establish a free breakfast and lunch program.
Growing up, my mother always reminded myself and my brothers to show care for those around us.. She also instilled the desire to turn around and give back, even in the smallest of ways. I remember watching my mom pay for the groceries of another mom in front of us . Every few months she would wake us up to clean out our closets of all the things we've grown out of and take them to shelters and donation locations.
Acts of service have been a part of my childhood, my career, my love language and now my life's mission.
There's a long road of work ahead but I'm eager and looking forward to keeping you all updated on this journey.
