Kiara Quade

I am fundraising for one of my closet friends Julie and her beautiful daughter Kiara (Ra), in the fight of her life. Kiara is one of seven children. Julie has watched Ra fade away in the last 18 months and baffle doctors here in Australia with a rare condition called MALS - Median arcuate ligament syndrome. Kiara already lives with a rare syndrome called Ring Chromosome 22 but now to be diagnosed with this horrible MALS, which has caused her extreme weight loss and excruciating pain,  is heartbreaking to watch. She cannot eat orally (Ra loves food!) and is on to her second operation to insert another PEG tube. After speaking with some other families here in Australia with children with MALS, Julie has learned that the Australian medical system does not have adequate knowledge in its treatment.  This family have endured endless rejections by specialists to take Ra’s case on. Julie was finally given the contact details for the world’s best vascular surgeon, Dr Kurtis Kim, who is in the USA. Dr Kim’s knowledge and understanding of the condition is what Kiara needs to get her life back and be pain free and one day to be able to possibly eat again. As Dr Kim is not in Australia, Kiara and her family have Telehealth consults with him and are guided on what to do, and the type of tests required. These consults are not cheap, as you would expect for the worlds’ leading vascular surgeon,  so I am raising this money to help pay for her consultations and surgery which aren’t available here in Australia.
