THE FAMILY OF KIARA WRIGHT

Regretfully, we must announce the passing of AVA Alumni Kiara Wright, Class of 2012. Kiara is the niece of our Director of Web and Social Media, Michael Williams and his wife, Katina.  Please join us in support of this family during this difficult time.

A heart of Gold stopped beating, two shining eyes at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove, He only takes the best.

On October 2, 2017 our lives changed forever.  There are no words that seem adequate enough to express our painful grief of the passing of our beautiful niece Kiara Wright.  During this time we ask for your joyful thoughts and prayers in remembrance of Kiara.  She was blessed with loving family, great friends, and so many high school, club and college teammates, all of whom she loved dearly.Kiara was in the prime of her life at 23 years of age.   She was a recent graduate of Florida State University and resided full time in Tallahassee, Florida.  Kiara was kind hearted, good natured, caring, loved to enjoy life and to see other people succeed.  She absolutely loved animals, especially dogs.

Kiara was a standout athlete in multiple sports and was nationally recognized in Volleyball where she played club volleyball for Absolute Volleyball Academy of Texas.

She was a proud member of AVA!  Her club team finished 5th at the 2011 USAV Junior Nationals and was a member of the squad that won the bronze medal at the 2010 USA Volleyball High Performance Tournament of Champions in Colorado Springs, CO.  She was named by ESPN as one of the Top 25 players in the Nation as well as being ranked No. 13 in the Nation by PrepVolleyball.   Kiara also finished second in High Jump for the 2011 5A Texas Girls' State Championship.

During high school, Kiara was offered and accepted a full athletic scholarship in volleyball to the University of Southern California where she played for former USA Olympic Coach Mick Haley.   After 2 years at USC, Kiara then attended Florida State University, coached by Chris Poole, and helped the Noles go deep into the NCAA Tournament with a final record of 30-2.

Kiara traveled to China to play with USA Volleyball during the summer of 2015.

Kiara then turned her attention to track and field and helped the Noles win the ACC Track and Field Championship her senior year (2016) participating in the High Jump.  Kiara graduated from Florida State University in 2016 and lived in Tallahassee,Florida.

Please take a minute to say a prayer for the family and consider making a donation to her Memorial Fund.  With great sincerity, we truly thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of our hearts.

All donations are going directly to the final arrangements and all assistance is greatly appreciated!  Any remaining funds will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in the name of Kiara Wright.

We want to also say to those that may be in the midst of life’s struggles... You have the power to say, “This is not how my story will end.”

Thank you and God bless,
Michael & Katina Williams
