Campaign to make bullying a criminal offence
Donation protected
Kibi Wade (Barrett) was a beautiful young 16 year old with so much to live for when her life tragically ended by suicide on 24th July 2024.
She was found by her elder sister, mum and myself (her stepmum) hanging from the banister of the family home. Despite attempts to resuscitate her, sadly she had passed away.
Her last message to her girlfriend was that she “couldn’t handle it anymore”.
“It” referred to the bullying and cyber bullying she was getting from her peers at her school. She suffered with mental health issues and self-harm, and again was given no support. The school chose to ignore the bullying and our concerns which is even worse. We still have not received a message of condolence from the school.
Her funeral was held on the 3rd September and £4000 of the money you kindly donated has been used to give her the send off she deserves. However, our fight continues as we campaign for change in the law so that another teenager doesn’t take their life due to bullying and another family doesn’t have to suffer the pain we will go through for a long time to come.
