Hello, everyone! As emerging diverse artists from Regent Park and beyond, we are thrilled to share the incredible journey of creativity that we’ve embarked on for a decade through Kick Start Arts. Our passion for theatre, filmmaking, and storytelling has been ignited through experiences that have shaped our artistic vision.

Our Story

Our journey began when we were teenage participants in a transformative program that occurred every Monday night called The Regent Park Project . In these free classes, we delved into the realm of acting, writing, filmmaking, and theatre. These immersive, embodied classes grounded in our lived experiences not only honed our skills and connected us to professionals in the industry, but they also kindled a profound love for the performing arts, writing, and collaboration - created an amazing supportive community of diverse emerging artists along the way. Now, we are proud to be part of a company that values creativity, diversity, and innovation, and together, we have embarked on remarkable projects that have brought our stories to life.

Our Achievements

Through our dedication, we have:

Contributed to The Regent Park Project, an initiative that facilitated the creation of two captivating seasons of a web series , and a series of monologues entitled One Park Seven Stories .

Youth who have participated in those classes and projects are now working professionally in the film and theatre industries as actors represented by professional agents, writers working in writer’s rooms, producers, and crew.
Additionally, we’ve ventured into the realm of feature film writing.
And NOW our web series has inspired a compelling play adaptation - entitled Growing Up Regent! These accomplishments are a testament to our commitment to storytelling and the impact of the arts on our community.

The Next Chapter

Right now we are really excited that Growing Up Regent has been selected for the esteemed SummerWorks Performance Festival, marking a significant milestone in our journey. We are also really focused on getting our feature film produced. And of course, we want there to be funding to support the young creators coming up behind us in the Monday night classes.
