Kicking Butt for Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn Sterling, age 25, is in the ICU at UP Health System Hospital in Marquette, MI. Kaitlyn began feeling ill a few weeks ago and went to the urgent care in Hancock, MI. She presented with very low oxygen levels and was sent directly to the hospital. After a brief stay there and administration of oxygen, it became evident that she required critical care for her oxygen needs and was airlifted to UP Health System Hospital. Kaitlyn’s condition quickly progressed to the point that she needed to be heavily sedated and placed on a ventilator. She has been in the ICU since 11/18/21 and is showing slow signs of improvement, however, the situation is very serious. They are currently unsure of the cause and are trying a variety of different treatments in hopes of finding something that will improve her situation.
For those who know Kaitlyn, she is a fighter. She is a portrait of health and kindness. She does yoga, hikes, loves reading and is a Keweenaw Jiu Jitsu/10th Planet Blue Belt.
Kaitlyn is an exceptional human being who loves her friends, family, significant other and her cats. She graduated from Houghton Lake High School and is an MTU alumni in Environmental Engineering. She is a member of Mu Beta Psi Fraternity. Kaitlyn is currently working as a design engineer. In her free time, she gives back to her community by being a children’s instructor at Keweenaw Jiu Jitsu. Kaitlyn is a passionate lover of the earth and environment.
We need your help. Whatever can be done will be greatly appreciated. Kaitlyn has been unable to work. It is unknown when she will be able to return. She has already spent many days in the ICU, and the medical bills are mounting. She will need assistance with household expenses in addition to medical bills that will continue for a long, undetermined amount of time.
