Hi,

My name is Cooper Busch.   I am 3 years old. I came into this world to a wonderful family, a loving mother and dad and my BEST friend, my big brother Cole. I am also getting a little sister in March. 

I started my life with some challenges, I have Down syndrome and when I was born I spent 6 weeks in the NICU due to a heart defect and because I needed oxygen, but with the support of my family and others, I have worked very hard to overcome my challenges.  Of course, I still have work to do.

Recently, I found out I have another challenge to overcome - Leukemia. This is possibly the biggest challenge of my life. I was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia on November 7, 2016. The type I have is unique to kids like me that have Down syndrome. My family and I spend a lot of time in  Golisano's  Children's Hospital in Syracuse  while I am
receiving my chemotherapy treatments. Due to the type of leukemia I have, I have to stay at the hospital for weeks at a time.  My mother had to take a leave of absence from her job.   My dad works during the week when he can, and then travels to see me every weekend.  Most times we have fun, especially when my brother comes for the weekend. But sometimes it is not so much fun. Sometimes I am sick from the treatments.

 A lot of nice people have already given money and stuff to our family to help out with the expenses of being in the hospital in another city. I know my parents really appreciate the support.  Normally, my parents are helping other people; but I guess in this case, we need the help.  We have a ways to go before my treatments end... I'm looking at 3 more rounds of chemotherapy at this point, and the medical, travel and living expenses
have only begun.
