Amy’s Cousin is a Kidney Match!!

Many of you know Amy Van Horn as one of the sweetest souls on the planet. You may also know that she has battled with polycystic kidney disease for the past 30 years is a kidney transplant recipient.

Despite numerous health issues related to her kidney function and multiple surgeries, over the years she has remained a light and joy to all who know her. As a mom, a wife, a grandma, a daughter, a cousin, a sister, a niece, an aunt, an artist, a friend, a neighbor and an entrepreneur, all who know Amy can vouch for her caring and selfless heart.

Amy has already had two kidney transplants, one which failed immediately and the second which although it has lasted twice as long as average, it’s wearing out. As a result she has been struggling just to live a normal life. Her doctors have advised her that the time for another transplant has come.

She has been placed on the transplant list but unfortunately it can take years to find a match this way. In the meantime she would have to go on dialysis which can also be quite hard in her health.

The good news is that she has found a living donor!’ Her cousin Beth recently underwent the required tests and they found out on 11/18/2022 that they are a match!! They are working on plans to schedule the surgeries at the Miami Transplant Institute.

We are starting this go fund me to help cover some of the expenses not covered by insurance. They will be traveling to Miami and are required to stay in Miami for 3-4 weeks. They will need a place to stay that will accommodate Amy and her husband Duane, Beth and her husband John, and other family members who will be helping with caring for them in their recovery. They will also need some help with covering bills as both Duane and Beth will be missing a significant amount of work.
