Care for Claire: Kidney Transplant

Hi, my name is Kelli and I am starting this fund to benefit my sister Karie’s family. My niece Claire has been battling kidney failure for over a year. Claire has started hemo dialysis which requires a week long stay and drive to Grand Rapids. The drive is over five hours round trip from their home. They have been making this trip almost weekly since May. Claire’s kidneys have stopped functioning and she will be on dialysis for a minimum of 6 months before she will hopefully be transplanted with a new kidney. The hope is within the next couple weeks her new PD catheter will heal and she can transition to Peritoneal dialysis which will be performed every night at home.

As you can imagine this has been very difficult on the family. Karie has not worked for at least a year because she has been the main caregiver for Claire. BJ has applied for a leave of absence from work to help care for Claire during the weeks after surgery. This will take a hit to their income. Medical bills are also adding up. 

I am asking for help with monthly expenses while they are not working and medical bills.
