Kidney Transplant and room and board

Hello I’m Linda, I’m Steven Scott’s mother. My son just got on the kidney transplant list. He had a kidney and pancreas transplant when he turned 40, 13 years ago. He lost the pancreas in a car accident and they don’t know why the kidney stopped working. He has been on dialysis for 6.5 years. In order to get on the list he had to have open heart surgery. Which was a great expense. What really is the expense is that the surgery will be at Tampa General where his heart surgery was done. After the transplant we will have to stay in Tampa for three months. That’s where the great expense comes in. Rooms are so much more these days. And his insurance will only cover the surgery at Tampa General. That’s why the first surgery was done there. We can pay for the surgery but it’s the cost for a place to stay that adds up faster than we could imagine. That basically covers for a room. Everything else like meals and gas we can cover with the cost of the surgery. Anything additional we be a great hope. Thank you for your help, Linda
