Kidney Transplant for Jackie

Donation protected
Hi my name is Jacqueline, but I go by Jackie or Jack (that's what my friends call me), I'm 37 years old, happily married, and a mother of three beautiful girls. In May of 2015, I started having kidney issues. By 2016 it was discovered that I had a progressive kidney disease that put me in, "End stage kidney failure". My diagnosis was Glomerulonephritis C3. This is a very rare illness that caused my kidneys to fail. In order to keep me alive and somewhat healthy the doctors told me I had to start peritoneal dialysis. I was able to do that for 3 years but unfortunately that started to fail. The doctors had me switch to Hemodialysis in May of 2019. This treatment has been very challenging to say the least, for me and my family. Even as we face many obstacles throughout the years past and present,  I know without a doubt, I'm blessed to have them by my side. My three daughters (ages 6, 10, and 15) have shown patience, understanding, and bravery. My husband, who is my caregiver, has been trained to perform dialysis at home, so I wouldn't have to go to a clinic and expose the risk of infections. Especially now with this pandemic it's even more risky. It's also saved us time with our family, money, and many other important areas in our lives. My husband Frank, has always been afraid of needles but realized the importance of how treatment at home vs treatment in a facility, would be. So with that, he took a leap of faith and began his classes to become my "at home nurse".

I come here today in hopes for a new chapter in my life. By the grace of God, I'm being granted the opportunity of getting a kidney transplant.  I have a chance to become somewhat normal again. Everyday things like: spending time at a park with my children, helping out with homework, working, and many other things have been a struggle to complete with this lifestyle. So when I was told about this transplant, my heart began to race a million beats per second. My hopes flew high and spirit grew strong. My eyes began tearing up and that lump in my throat began to swell because I know what can change. So now I have a new but not impossible challenge to deal with, and that is this. My family and I, have to come up with a certain dollar amount in our savings account in order for the transplant team to even consider me being a possible donor recipient.  We are faced with having to provide proof of having a savings account with a minimum balance of $5,000 to cover anything that insurance doesn't. I feel it in my heart, it would be a great missed opportunity at a second chance of life with my loved ones all because we are unable to come up with a dollar amount. I mean, money is the one and only thing at this point standing in the way of me having a second chance at life, freedom, and happiness. I just want to get some normalcy back in my life. I want to be the best mom and wife I can be. I want to be a living hope and inspiration for others. I want to be a walking testimony for those around me. Just to be able to say where I was, where I am, and where I will go next would be a dream come true. I know times are hard right now for everyone, but any amount of money would help and be greatly appreciated, thank you and God bless.
