Our names are Rowan and Declan Heys. We are a 9 year-old girl and a 6 year-old boy. We were born in Anchorage, Alaska, and now live in San Diego. We both love to read. We also both love animals. We have 14 pets: 2 cats, 1 dog, 2 rabbits, and 9 chickens!
We recently went to Costa Rica with our family. There, we visited a wildlife rescue sanctuary called Kids Saving the Rainforest (which was started by 2 nine year-old girls!) where we saw lots of injured jungle animals.
We saw monkeys that were electrocuted by climbing on uninsulated power lines and baby monkeys who were taken from their mothers (who were often killed) and forced into being pets.
We decided to start our own non-profit group called Kids Saving Critters . The purpose of our group to connect kids all over the world to learn from each other, help wildlife, and develop the skills to make our communities and the world a better place. We went on to raise over $2000 to help build a spider monkey enclosure in Costa Rica for injured monkeys and we also funded a wildlife field trip for a class of impoverished kids in Costa Rica. We started a Kids Saving Club in our elementary school to work on local wildlife projects. And in the next year, we will be traveling to South Africa, Italy, and Myanmar to work on wildlife rescue projects in these countries.
Please support our group Kids Saving Critters and help us with our dream to change the world! We plan on traveling to many countries to work with kids around the world to help animals. Please check out our website. learn about upcoming projects, join us in growing, and lets do great things together!
