The flame that burns twice as bright, burns half as long. Lao Tzu, Te Tao Ching
Kiera Simone Cushman, Born June 18, 2003 in Portland, Oregon. She lived most of her life in Camarillo, California. She passed away January 24, 2023.
She is survived by her loving family including Mom Tammy Cushman-Czabala and Step-Dad Michael Czabala, Dad Adam Cushman and Step-Mom Alexandra Cushman, siblings Zhirelle Cushman, Tierney, Daxton and Elliott Czabala. Grandparents Lois Huff and John Gonzales, Cindy Cushman, and Stan and June Cushman.
Kiera loved easy and cared deeply for everyone. She was beautiful and brilliant and so very talented. A wonderful sister, a sweet and caring daughter, a best friend. She will be incredibly missed.
Kiera loved with an innate brightness from the moment she arrived in this life. As a small child she carried a knowing smile in her eyes, like she understood the world and life’s mysteries most of us struggle with. She loved being with her big sister, drawing and painting, putting on shows for her family, playing with and caring for her younger siblings, and making everyone laugh. She was hilarious, her delivery and timing always pitch perfect. She had little use for school and boring books and saw through most of the mundane societal trappings. She knew instinctively life was meant to be enjoyed and in doing so was wiser than all of us. She loved Pink Floyd and The Beatles, Zeppelin, Suicide Boys, and the Deftones, Bojack and Family Guy, Donnie Darko, her dog Joey, make-up as an art form, gemstones, colored hair, thrift store shopping, and piercings.
Her inner strength, resilience, and loving soul remain with her family, friends, and everyone she touched in this life. She knows more than anyone there are no goodbyes and that we’ll all be together in the blink of an eye.
Kiera attended Rancho Rosal Elementary, Rancho Campana High School and Moorpark College.
