Kijani Burgess Dream Award

Donation protected

The Kijani Burgess Dream Award was setup in his memory by his family, his mom Antoinette, dad Kevin and sister Khaeljah.

Kijani was killed in a road traffic accident on 13 January 2020 at the age of 16.

He didn't have the opportunity to fulfill his Dream of becoming a Movie Director or graduate with the Class of 2021.

Kijani lived a life of purpose and believed in community service and helping others especially those less fortunate. He was known to share his lunch or buy lunch for someone as a random act of kindness.

He was also known for his bright smile, infectious laugh and cheerful personality.  He believed in reaching for the stars and despite his learning challenges he had goals and dreams to become successful and build communities for those less fortunate.

He wrote in his final school assignment before the accident that 'Someday I Will become so famous people will remember me' and this is our legacy to remember Kijani through others Dreams.

All funds raised will go towards the Kijani Burgess Dream Award to assist a non-traditional graduating Grade 12 student at Bermuda Institute to reach their DREAM.

His mom Antoinette, said that although she won't get to witness Kijani fulfilling his dream, she knows that he would have wanted the family to assist someone else to fulfill theirs.
