Hi Everyone,

We are a small agency(Sea to Sky Behaviour and Learning) supporting neurodivergent children and youth in the community of Squamish.

We are starting this Go Fund Me to support one of our wonderful families in getting a safety sleeper for their son Killian.

Killian is a delightful 6-year-old boy whose smile will light up your world and whose laugh will fill your heart with joy. He loves marble tracks, balloons, bubbles, ribbons, balls and playing in the water. Killian's most favourite thing is numbers! Killian was very ill as an infant with eColi meningitis that left him with many challenges for the rest of his life. He has been identified as having multiple disabilities including global developmental delay, cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Killian is also non-verbal autistic, making it challenging for him to communicate his wants and needs. Due to having difficulties with communication, it can be difficult to understand Killian’s internal experiences and he will at times engage in high levels of self-injurious behaviour including banging his head on hard surfaces. This can often occur very early in the morning, in the middle of the night and all hours of the day. At times, these challenging behaviours can be completely unpredictable. The family has worked very hard to make several adaptations and modifications to Killians daily routine to promote a safe environment. One area of strength that is detrimental to his growth in success and safety is to provide a safe space away from others for his ability to self-regulate. His own private safe space would serve as a coping skill when Killian is overwhelmed and needs to reduce stimulation on his environment. This piece of equipment is the last option the family has been left with in preventing additional instances of self-injury and harm in the home. Please know that all other options for funding this equipment have been exhausted at this time. We are trying to support this amazing family in fund a safety sleeper that will help keep Killian safe and secure. Any help you can give to keep Killian safe, would be greatly appreciated.
