Help support our 2010 Madrid team in their Scottish Cup Campaign. By helping to contribute toward transportation and match costs associated with the unexpected replay of their last round tie. Hear their story below —————————————————————
On Saturday 18th January 2025, Kilwinning Rangers Madrid (2010) welcomed Stirling Albion Junior Academy Red (2010) in the last 16 of the Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) Scottish Cup. The match went to penalties; Kilwinning Rangers Madrid won 6-5. The next round was to be played on the weekend of 8th/9th February. We watched the draw live on the SYFA Facebook page; we were drawn against Currie Star, as the home team we contacted them and we agreed to play against them on Saturday 8th February 2025 in Kilwinning.
On Sunday 19th January 2025, Stirling Albion Junior Academy Red submitted an appeal. The appeal was heard 18 days later on Thursday 6th February 2025 and the committee decided that the tie should be replayed on the weekend of 15th/16th February at a venue of Stirling Albion’s choosing. The following day, we submitted our own appeal in response to the committee’s decision and were told that our appeal would not be heard as it would, “interrupt playing of a cup competition.”
Later in their response, they referred to YOUR RIGHT TO APPEAL (Extract from SYFA Disciplinary Procedures)
9.2 “Appeals which relate to any matter affecting the result of a cup tie or which would interrupt playing of a competition shall not be entertained.”
From reading 9.2, we are keen to learn why Stirling Albion Junior Academy Red were given the opportunity to appeal in the first place. Stirling Albion Junior Academy Red have breached both parts of 9.2. To us, it appears as though it is one rule for one team and one rule for another. We know we are a small club in comparison to Stirling Albion but we believe we should be treated fairly; we should have had the right to appeal.
Likewise, by denying us the opportunity to appeal, the SYFA have failed to consider the second paragraph of IFAB Law 3.2 which states:
“The decisions of the referee regarding facts connected with play, including whether or not a goal is scored and result of the match, are final. The decisions of the referee, and all other match officials, must always be respected.”
Through no fault of our own, the SYFA have informed us that the match has to be replayed on Saturday 15th February. Moreover, rather than replay the match in Kilwinning, as per the original match, we have been told that we must travel to Stirling to compete.
As per the guidance provided by the SYFA appointed referee on the day of the match, and the highlighted points aforementioned, we did not foresee this outcome.
Moreover, we do not have the finances to pay for transport. We are consequently looking for any financial support you can provide to cover the cost of transport. Thank you in advance for any support you can give.
