Kim Dixon Fund for Funeral & Medical Expenses

Our beautiful angel, Kim Dixon, left her earthly body on Saturday, May 28, after a five-year battle with ovarian cancer and renal disease. Kim's life and legacy were the purest examples of kindness, compassion, caring, loving and understanding. She was an extraordinary mother, magnificent teacher and remarkable friend.
To know Kim was to experience what Christ taught when he said, "love one another." Her true character was that of acceptance and inclusion. Her family knew her for her ongoing interest and concern for their wellbeing. Her friends knew her as one who showed up when others retreated. Her students knew her to be vigilant in supporting their best efforts to learn and understand their world. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her and all the students and families whose hearts she touched over her years of teaching.
Kim was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February 2017 when she was forced to leave her Nativity School family to begin her battle. She gave it her all, defied the odds, and was in remission several times. Unfortunately, each time cancer crept back, and her chemotherapy treatments took a terrible toll making her weak and fragile. Kim went into renal failure and was placed on permanent kidney dialysis. Her general health continued to decline, resulting in frequent periods of nausea, low blood pressure and fainting spells.
Kim completed her third round of chemotherapy in March 2022. During the first week of April, after a series of scans, her doctors were happy to report that there was no evidence of disease. Her family referred to this as "the miracle of the melting cancer."
Unfortunately, Kim continued to experience extreme fatigue and nausea. In the first week of May, she suffered a fainting episode that sent her to the emergency room at UCSD La Jolla. Kim underwent additional scanning, tests and treatment, but the combination of dialysis and chemotherapy had taken their toll on her fragile and frail body.
On Saturday, May 28, surrounded by her loved ones, Kim Dixon left this world for her heavenly classroom! She leaves behind three beautiful children - her two sons, Matthew and Christopher, and her daughter, Amy.
At the request of her family, we are establishing this GoFundMe campaign to assist her children with outstanding financial obligations from her medical treatment and funeral costs. Please consider a gift of monetary support to Kim's family in lieu of flowers or other donations on her behalf. Kim would find comfort in knowing that we were caring for her children as she loved and cared for ours for so many years.
If you prefer, you can leave your donation at The Nativity School front office with Maggie Zures.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF KIM AND HER FAMILY! GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
