Kim Fischer, Life after Cancer

We are starting this gofundme for our Mom, Kim Fischer. At the end of June 2023 she found a lump in her breast. She started doctoring in July, which became quite the roller-coaster of events, they found that it indeed was breast cancer & at one point thought that it had spread to her hip and spine. That led us to the Mayo Clinic where thankfully they determined it had not spread to her bones or spine, that it was a typical hemangioma on her spine. THANK GOD. She found that it was in her right breast and right lymph node and that she would be starting Chemotherapy in November.

Meanwhile, her personal life was also taking other turns. Upon returning home from the Mayo she decided to leave the relationship she was in, they were not legally married in the U.S. which left her with nothing but her belongings. During all the doctoring and personal life changes she has moved from Waverly, MN to Alexandria, MN. Having to start all over again also while getting treatments.

Like a rockstar she started treatments after Thanksgiving and had 3 months of Chemo. That was successful in shrinking the lump in the breast and returning that lymph node to “normal.” On February 21st, she had a Bilateral (Double) Mastectomy at Mayo Clinic and the road to recovery will be long. The surgery went really well, her Doctors did an amazing job. They were able to get all the Cancer out, YAY!!! They did end up having to take out more lymph nodes than expected (11) but the cancer is gone. She has a follow up appointment on March 5th where they will check on her but also determine if she needs radiation as well. The healing process has just begun on so many levels.

Being out of work and having to start over, she is needing some help getting into a new place and all the things that follow. She has been staying with her friends, Marsha & Randy Sayre and staying with her daughter Rikki & family in Horace, ND during the healing process. Once she is healed, she is eager to start life again. That is where the GoFundMe comes in, we would really like to help her out to get her back on her feet. Relieving the stress off of her so she can focus on healing and not the 'how' of it all! Your donation will towards helping her get into her own place (we have to find that yet), furnishings for that place, bills and life in between.
