Hello, my name is Mallorie and I'm the daughter of Kim. My mom, not so gracefully, fell down a flight of basement stairs at my grandpa's house late Saturday night. She took such a terrible tumble that she was unable to get up on her own. Nobody was able to hear her cries for help from the bottom of the basement until the morning, 10 hours after her fall. Once my grandpa was able to get to her she couldn't get up on her own and the decision to call 911 was made. She was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne where test, scans, and MRI's were performed.
She had crushed her 5th and 6th vertebrae in her neck. Emergency surgury was performed to put rods in her neck. She had no feeling in her arms legs hands or toes and was not able to move her extremities at all after the surgery. Since the swelling went down she's starting to regain some mobility but definitely has a long long road of rehabilitation to go. She has major nerve damage and remains in ICU. Thank the lord there was no brain damage but she can't do anything for herself at the moment. As of today she is slowly gaining mobility and was able to stand up with help for 40 seconds so amazing progress is being made everyday but we aren't sure how this will effect the future for Kim or her family.
Kim could use help towards medical bills as well as rehabilitation. This has definitely been a life changing event for her mentally and physically as well as life changing Kim and her family appreciate anything that anyone could do to help.
