Kim Newby and Family

Donation protected
Kim Newby, our beloved friend and colleague at Waterstone Mortgage began a leave of absence for health reasons several weeks ago. Kim has been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

As you can imagine, the road ahead will be very difficult for her. She will be focused on her health and her family, and we are saddened that she will not be returning to work with us. She is currently in the hospital but is hoping to return home mid-April. Your donations will assist the family with additional medical expenses once Kim is home.

Some of you have known and worked with Kim for years, and many others consider her to be a friend; but anyone who has ever met Kim can attest to her endearing qualities: her professionalism, her sense of humor, and her genuine heart.

Kim began her career in the mortgage industry in 1982 as a receptionist. She worked her way through various positions, eventually taking on leadership roles at companies such as GN Mortgage, Guaranty Bank, and Shelter Mortgage. During her 30+ year career prior to Waterstone Mortgage, Kim served as an AVP – Operations Manager, Wholesale Lending; Regional VP – Wholesale Lending; President – Wholesale Mortgage; and SVP – Homeowners Assistance & Retail Branch Manager.

In 2014, Kim came to Waterstone Mortgage as VP – QC & Investor Relations. She eventually transitioned her focus to Investor Relations, Product Development & Specialty Operations, and was promoted to her most recent role as an SVP in 2018.

Throughout her career and especially within the past several years, Kim has worked diligently to discover and implement the best loan products available. In collaboration with our sales team and the many investors and mortgage insurance partners Kim has developed relationships with over the years, she has identified new barriers to homeownership and developed unique product offerings for our customers.

Please continue to keep Kim, her husband Harold, and her children Halee and Justen in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your donation for Kim and her family.
