For the past few years, Kim dedicated her days to becoming the best athlete, writer and photographer she could be. She ran, climbed, and ski toured around the Alps not just for fun, but for building a fun career.
Kim would sit up late with her journals in mountain huts or up early at home to write about her experiences— efforts that eventually became the trail running guide to the Alps, Run the Alps Switzerland . In 2017, she helped launch Elevation: The Alps Trail & Peak Running Resource. She wrote for Trail Runner, Runner’s World and numerous brands, and played a key role in creating the Via Valais, a 127-mile-long, hut-to-hut route that takes in the best of Switzerland’s most spectacular terrain. All the while Kim did what she did best: inspire people to cast off on their own big adventures knowing they’d return with rich memories, much like what she was experiencing.
In September 2019, Kim was nearing her peak when a doctor diagnosed her with stage 2 HER2+ breast cancer. With her EU visa about to run out, Kim fortunately found coverage at a new cancer-fighting facility in California only minutes from loving family. She left behind her life in Europe and immediately started treatment.
Today, she is determined to get through the task at hand, but it is also exceedingly clear what a long, terrifying, and financially straining journey she has ahead.
We’re seeking support from friends, followers, the outdoor community, anyone who has ever felt Kim’s joy of bounding through the mountains they love and cannot imagine the pain of having that ever taken away.
We're humbly asking for donations, anything helps, to help Kim focus on what is so critical right now, simply regaining her health.
