Supporting Rubie & her loving Family

Hello, my name is Kelly.

On 11/05/24 I received a phone call I never expected from my Sister to tell me my Beautiful, fun loving 16 year old Niece, with such a bright future ahead of her had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest

When she was found by her amazing friend, he immediately started CPR which kept her alive, at that moment we had the hope she could get better from this.

She was airlifted to Kings College hospital in London, where she has been in ICU, HDU & most recently in a spine and brain injury ward, where she is receiving around the clock care, both from staff & her parent/s

After many tests & scans we received the completely devastating news that due to losing 30 minutes of oxygen flowing to her brain she now sadly has profound brain injuries.

The Doctor's have said her cardiac arrest was caused by a rare cardiac arrhythmia condition.

She is expected to stay in hospital for at least a year!

This has already felt a very long & extremely emotional journey, our Family will never be the same again. Our hearts have been shattered

There have been moments of hope, but sadly many more moments with worry, sadness & grieving for the loss of Rubie as we all knew & loved her. Our love for her will never change, but we must now all get to know a very different Rubie

Rubies Mum & her Step Dad have had to both give up their jobs so at least one of them can be at Rubies hospital bedside & the other to care for her siblings.

This means any money coming in is very minimal

Bills obviously don't stop & now there are many more extra financial burdens on my Sister & her Partner, as they start to prepare for the adaptions that will need to be made to their Family home & any extra treatments & therapies that may give Rubie a better quality of life

I wanted to set up this page in the hope that some of you, those that knew Rubie & even those that didn't would be kind enough to donate any amount you can

I appreciate times are tough for everyone, but if we can try & help take some of the financial worries away from this loving Family for a while during the most difficult time of their lives, it would mean so much, so they can just concentrate on Rubie & spend this time helping to care for her & be by her side
