Kim Verge beloved Daughter, Sister, and Friend
Donation protected
Hello all.
Kim Verge, was in a serious car accident on Feb 5th, 2023. She was airlifted to the Edmonton hospital, where she is now. Kim is currently in an induced coma and on life support. She has suffered severe physical injuries including a shattered pelvis, broken ribs, collapsed lungs, and multiple broken vertebra. Right now doctors are mostly concerned about brain damage. Information about her brain trauma is slow in coming due to the necessity of the induced coma and the difficulty in imaging the brain in detail. We are hopeful and must believe that she will wake up. Kim is one of the strongest, most resilient people we have ever known. We are looking for financial support to help us pay for accommodations and travel for the family as well as be able to provide for Kim through what will be a long painful recovery when she wakes up.
Kim’s family does not live anywhere near Edmonton. Her partner is from Grande Prairie, AB, and her parents and siblings are from farms near Prince George, BC (and one in Toronto). They have all had to get accommodations in Edmonton. So far they have been staying in a hotel paying nightly, but the situation is more long-term than is possible there. The family is now looking at a monthly accommodation (monthly hotel, rental, or Airbnb). While they are trying their hardest to minimize costs, accommodation costs will likely be between $2000 and $3000 a month. We would like to thank everyone so much that has had suggestions or offers for plases to stay. We have found a month to month rental that is within walking distance of UofA hospital for now.
Kim’s brother has a 3 month old baby who is with his wife at home in BC while he is in Edmonton. He would really like to be able to travel to see them. Kim’s parents will have to return home occasionally to check in on the farm animals and make sure that the house is intact (winter on the farm is a full-time job, and while neighbors are thankfully helping out once in a while they need to go home). One sister is flying to Edmonton from Toronto. Her other sister is driving from BC.
The immediate primary financial strains are paying for a place to stay, and paying for travel to and from Edmonton. It is important that Kim’s family and partner are able to stay nearby to be available to doctors, be able to encourage her to wake up, and be able to be with Kim when she hopefully wakes up, to support her and show her how loved she is. If (and when) Kim does wake up she will then be faced with a long arduous recovery time during which she will be unable to run her self owned business. During this time we will need to be able to help Kim provide for every day costs as well as any extra medical costs that will be associated with her recovery. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Kim is an incredibly loved person, and we refuse to let money stop us from being with her and showing her the support that we have all been receiving in this hard time. Thank you everyone. If anyone would like to send us a direct Etranfer you can do so to [email redacted].
