Kim's Jamaica Project

Hello friends!
As some of you already know, and for those that don't, this summer, I'll be heading south to volunteer teach with the Bigwoods Primary School children in Bigwoods, Jamaica! The Jamaica Project
Below I'm including information regarding how the raised monies will be spent as well as some details about the students and the area they live.
What's the money for?
A portion of the requested funds will be alocated for accommodation and car rental during my stay. The remaining funds raised will go toward securing a weekly breakfast for the students at $1/student per day for as many weeks as possible... In addition we are working to get them online with WIFI access so that we may stay in touch with their students abroad!
About Bigwoods
Bigwoods is off the beaten track. The school is in a beautiful location at the foot of the Santa Cruz mountain. The mountain sits behind the school and all around are trees, green grass, and birds circling the air. The community is mostly farming, growing fruits and vegatables, cattle, goats and chickens that roam around.
The hope is to eventually create a garden at the school to help sustain their needs,
There are 56 children who attend Bigwoods Primary School in grades 1-6. They wear school uniforms and start each day with an assembly where they all sing together. There are 3 teachers at the school, including the principal, and the students are grouped into 3 classes of two grades at a time.
Lunch is provided for the children - rice and a little bit of meat, and they get snacks at break time although they have to pay for those. Ice cream is a popular snack!
My Role
I will be joining Bigwoods Primary School during their last two weeks of exams before summer break. I anticipate assisting with small and whole group lessons in addition to one-on-one tutoring. Essentially, where ever they need me, I'm happy to help!
Keeping you updated
I will be guest blogging at The Jamaica Project and will post images and updates so you may see how your donations have helped! http://www.the-jp.org/new-blog-avenue/
There's so much more I can say, but the most important is to please "Go Fund Me!"
Thanks a million!
