Kimberly (Taylor) Baumann's medical expenses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Melissa Whitmore. I am one of two sisters to Kimberly (Taylor) Baumann. I am raising funds to help with Kim's medical expenses, daily bills, and future travel expenses for her continued medical care.
As some of you know on January 9th, Kim was life-flighted to Billings for a saddle pulmonary embolism. The survival rate of this type of embolism is quite low for people who have other medical issues (which Kim does), however, Kim received fantastic care and was able to get a surgery called Percutaneous Thrombolysis and Embolectomy. The surgery was successful and Kim was released to go home later that week.
Kim is not out of the woods yet and has to be VERY careful with her activities and daily life routines. She is on high doses of blood thinners, and other medications to ensure if any clots are still lurking that they are not able to cause any more damage and hopefully dissolve. Her blood pressure is unstable at times, and her heart is now working extra hard due to the strain her lungs have been under. While she was in Billings, she found out her heart has some issues (a leaky valve, and pericardial effusion ), and they're unsure whether it will heal on its own or require surgery in the future. Currently, Kim is not allowed to bend over, or lift more than 10 pounds, she needs oxygen at night and has not been able to work in two weeks. She is hopeful she is going to be able to work at least part-time starting next week. It is unknown when she will be able to return to work full-time. Kim works as a CMA at Wind River Healthcare and has been there for 5 years.
Kim will have to travel to Billings to see her specialists for more testing on her lungs and heart. She also needs testing to figure out why she has a blood clotting disorder as this is now her second pulmonary embolism, and despite being on thinners was still clotting bad enough to cause this recent embolism. Doctors need to get to the bottom of it as she will not be able to survive another one.
Many of you know Kim for her caring nature; always willing to help anyone in need. She has spent almost all of her working career in the teaching or healthcare field. Whether she was taking care of clients at CES, SPED students at Shoshoni Schools, or patients at the clinics she has worked in Riverton; Kim has always been one to jump in and help without asking for anything in return. As you can imagine, she is struggling to accept the help of us raising money for her so she doesn't have to stress about finances and just focus on healing.
She told me when I was talking to her about this Go-Fund Me that even if it raises only $200, she will be ever so grateful for that.
Kim will never put anyone out, in fact, she is usually the one to go without in order to help someone else; so please only donate if you can. If you cannot donate it is completely understandable...this economy is not easy right now, however, she could use all the good thoughts and prayers sent her way as she has a very long recovery ahead of her.
Thank you in advance for any donation, thoughts, prayers, or sharing of this fundraiser.
