Family's home and possessions lost in blaze! Today Kim Christian and her 16 year old daughter, Karli, drove into their driveway to discover their house on fire. Black smoke and flames were billowing out. Luckily, they were not hurt, their pets barely escaped with their lives, and the wonderful Nederland Fire & EMS even had to give oxygen to the family cat, who was covered in soot. The fire appeared to have started from an AC unit. Most of the house was destroyed and all was layered in soot. However, Kim thought a few things could maybe be salvaged. However, later in the afternoon, the house reignited, this time in the ceiling, at the site of a ceiling fan box. The fire department had to return and the entire house drenched. The ceiling has now collapsed in parts of the house. The family unfortunately did not have renters insurance and now find themselves homeless, (staying at a motel for the time being), and having lost all their possessions for the second time in eight years (the first was Hurricane Ike in 2008). To say the least this is a very overwhelming and trying time for Kim & Karli. For those who do not know, Kim, is a teacher at Regina Howell Elementary School in Beaumont. She is a single parent to a beautiful sixteen year old, Karli. Kim & Karli, would like to thank all of their family and friends for their thoughts and prayers and overwhelming showing of love and support. All prayers are appreciated. If you are able, please donate to this family and help get them back on their feet. May God Bless you!
