Kinahan Family Cancer Fight Round 2

Donation protected
In January 2007, 3 year old Bennett Kinahan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia which was further complicated by the presence of the rare Philadelphia Chromosome.  The diagnosis was grim and the odds of Bennet beating the cancer were low but the Kinahan family had their faith, and HOPE.

Bennett was treated with chemo therapy, radiation therapy, and a stem cell transplant and, for 10 years, he was cancer free!  At the start of 2017, 13 year old Bennett was healthy, strong and smart (he is an honours student).

In February, Bennett was diagnosed with cancer in his left shoulder and has already received two rounds of chemo therapy at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.  More chemo treatments to shrink the tumour will be followed by surgery to remove the remainder of the mass, then more chemo.

Brian and Lori Kinahan are loving and devoted parents to four boys — Braden (16), Bennett (13), Cameron (10), and Luke (5).  They are all confident that “Bennett beat cancer once and he can do it again!”  However, the family is overwhelmed by this latest setback and they need our prayers and support.

Brian (Butch) Kinahan has worked to serve the citizens of Edmonton his entire life.  For 28 years, he served as a police officer with the Edmonton Police Service.  He is still with the EPS but now works as an Emergency Communications Officer, evaluating and prioritizing citizen’s calls for police assistance.  Since the diagnosis, both Brian and Lori have had to reduce their hours of work to care for Bennett and the rest of their family.

We hope you will join our EPS family in supporting the Kinahan family during this difficult time.  Here is what they need:

1) Prayer for the chemo to do its job and shrink the tumour; prayer for healing and the cure for Bennett.

2) Short-term funds to help ease some of the financial stress.

Thank you for your support.
