Kindal's Surgery
Donation protected
Hello Friends and family,
As some of you may know Kindal has been battling seizures since May of 2022. This has complicated life in multiple ways for Kindal and her family. Kindal is also a type one diabetic and in one of her seizure episodes damaged the tendons and ligaments in her right hand that most likely will require surgical repair.Kindal has JRA (juvenile rheumatoid arthristis) but since seizures have started has been unable to be treated to due to treatment having potential of making seizures/neurological symptoms worse. Since her seizures have started she has lost her ability to drive, taken away her ability to work, she has had to drop out of college and lost all of her independence as her seizures happen frequently and at random. Kindal has tried multiple different medications in hopes to slow the frequency in between her seizures and get an improved quality of life but to no avail. With the medications, she has still had multiple seizure episodes many of which have required hospital visits/stays. Her mom has applied for disability for Kindal due to the overwhelming amount of medical bills that have been acquired in the past year. As of right now, the application is stating it will take 8 months to review. At this point Kindal's neurologist as well as vascular surgeon state the only way to gain back Kindal's quality of life and to stop the seizures completely is a VNS (Vagas Nerve Stimulator) surgery. This will be a placement of a medical device that will act as a receptor to the seizures from the brain to stop them from happening. The vascular surgeon predicts that this device can stop Kindal's seizures completely and have her back to a normal life in 4-6 months. After the surgery , she will have to be followed by neurology and the battery will have to be replaced every 7-10 years. For the surgery, Kindal has a remainder of 7,442.08 left on her insurance out of pocket. The family has some of the out of pocket but not all and the surgery is schedule for April 3. The family is expected to pay the full amount of the remainder out of pocket to go through with the surgery. We are asking for any donations if you are able. It has been a rough year for them to say the least and your donation would not only be relieving the financial burden of the family but also returning this 19-year-olds life. We appreciate everything but expect nothing.
