Hi everybody! My name is Franchesca also known as Mrs. Frannie, I am trying to reopen my business to help my community. We are facing a nationwide childcare shortage as parents are returning to work from the pandemic, and families are desperate to find a quality, affordable childcare for their kids. As a mom myself, it's heartbreaking to see so many of my fellow parents desperate for help with their kids especially now that summer is soon coming to an end.
We were fortunate enough to help during the pandemic but shortly after we closed our doors due to an unfortunate situation with the facility and we wouldn’t renew our lease. I was happy to announce shortly after that we purchased a forever home for our center. The previous owner remained running her center until the center's license was changed over to us by the state. Once again an unexpected incident occurred; a water pipe broke on the third floor over the weekend and flooded the basement; two days before receiving the license change. This put the center out of service for the current families since the whole school had water damage. Sadly we weren’t the only home that suffered from a water pipe break since the temperature was way below freezing and couldn’t get a company to remove 4 feet of water in the basement until three days later.
Unfortunately, the insurance company also took a while for the claim process; 3 months to be exact and that time frame wasn’t part of our budget. To top it off they only cover the bare minimum. Mortgage, utility bills, etc isn’t covered by the insurance reimbursement and since the families have gone elsewhere we haven’t received any income to help with the needed monthly bills.
We finally had good news and renovations had begun in late May. Shortly after the town building's subco inspector stopped renovations and requested additional permits that only would be accepted with architectural drawings. Therefore the continuation was postponed an additional 4 weeks since finding an architect was difficult to find and the job took time to get done.
This is why I'm here, on GoFundMe. We need help. I have been diligently working on applying for grants and have exhausted all of my resources trying to stay up float until we can reopen as safely as possible for the kids. I'm here, asking for your help to get us to the finish line, so I can open our childcare center and help families.
I just want to say thank you in advance, seriously, it means the world to me.
