Kindness 4 Kelsey and Axel
This beautiful young woman is currently fighting, not only for her own life, but for the life of her unborn son, Axel. Kelsey Chambers was diagnosed with COVID the week of January 18. Within a week, her oxygen began dropping and she suffered many symptoms of COVID including extreme exhaustion which left her unable to care for herself. She was hospitalized and put in ICU almost immediately, and soon afterward was incubated and sent by emergency transport to Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. As of this post on January 28, doctors have currently stabilized her by keeping her sedated and paralyzed as her body continues to fight for both their lives. Baby Axel is also currently stable; he is due to arrive in April. As with all COVID patients, Kelsey and Axel are not allowed visitors to stay during their hospitalization. Her family must drive hours to see her through a window for 2 hours during “visiting” hours/days. Doctors are anticipating her recovery will take weeks of her being on life support.
Kelsey is a pharmacy technician in her hometown, a small rural area of Tennessee. She is known for her kindness and her ability to help others feel comfortable in her presence. She always has a smile for her customers and a word of encouragement to those in need. She is a loving and supportive family member, not only to her immediate family but also to her extended family. Her little cousins think of her as their big sister. She has touched lives within her little community and she has the hearts of many reaching out to her during this time.
