Kindness for Kelaia

Hi, my name is Tracey Graham. This fundraiser is on behalf of Kelaia Turner one of my Girl Scouts. Nearly 2 months ago, I called one of my very active Girl Scout moms to inquire about the status of information needed for an upcoming Girl Scout trip. This mom is usually one of the first to respond. The call that day not only left me stunned, hurt and in shock, I was speechless. The rest of this story can only be best told by Kelaia's mother. "March 18, 2023 our lives unexpectedly changed forever. The 2nd day of Spring break, a lazy Saturday spent watching TV and purchasing items for our daughter's 13th birthday party. She'd presented a PowerPoint detailing desired colors, theme, cake and activities the week prior. Yes, really!! That's just a glimpse of who Kelaia is. She is vibrant, smart, creative, funny, compassionate, talented, thoughtful, entrepreneurial, opinionated, but most of all the epitome of her name's meaning... goodness & beauty. She has an amazing heart for God. Kelaia makes sure everyone is ready for church on time because #1, Sunday for her equals going to church, #2, she can't stand being late!! The baby of our family, the 3rd girl, has been her sister's and our hopes and dreams. Singing on her youth worship team and school chorus, joining a dance team facilitated by a church because "dance is how I worship, Mom!", Girl Scout since Daisy, honor roll student, plays piano by ear, is a Spanish enthusiast, creative in all arts: culinary, acting, drawing, jewelry design, an athlete who loves soccer, cheer, and gymnastics. She's always walked to the beat of her own drum. A rockstar in elementary, middle school came with bullying, along the typical trials of adolescence. 6th grade she smiled her way through, in 7th grade same strategy in addition to seeking help from the administration. Last year, she requested a WWJD bracelet. March 18th, I found her hanging, the bracelet still on her wrist. She was dead when we found her, I called out to God for her life. 2 months later, by His grace, for His glory, she is still here!!! We went from being told she'd never recover, to her progressing enough to be considered for rehab, and now being assessed, and accepted to rehab. She is a MIRACLE, no one can tell me differently. Insurance has denied rehab coverage and we now need to discharge home. As can be imagined the cost for her care has gotten to a point we need help. Remaining by her side ushering in healing, we've not worked since this journey began. At this time, we cannot afford the equipment necessary to care for her in addition to the modifications required for her return home. We don't qualify for assistance and we are now stuck in the hospital in limbo. Through this unimaginable tragedy, I've leaned heavily on the word of God. He has the final say. No matter the facts, His truth remains; He will uphold us with his righteous right hand. No weapon formed against this family shall prosper!!! Normally, I'm am super private, but The Word says we overcome by the power of our testimony. God's word also says we have not because we ask not. I am asking for anyone who is able, to give whatever is pressed upon your heart to help us navigate this new horizon. It's appreciated more than we can express. March 3rd, Kelaia drew a picture on my whiteboard with the words, "live by faith not by sight". God's miracle isn't done. No matter what it look's like, Kelaia is fully healed in Jesus's name!!! We are faithful to believe.
