King Ind. Puerto Rican Family Aid
King Family Relief Drive for our Family in Puerto Rico
In the wake of Hurricane Maria, many of our extended King family member’s lives have been changed forever. Some have lost entire homes, some report minor to moderate damage, and many are struggling with the difficulties of job loss and maintaining a sustainable income to repair their homes and provide food and water for their families.
After sending King employees Eddie Montanez, Jader Correa, and Jose Rodriguez down to Puerto Rico in mid-October for an initial relief effort to help those most impacted, they came back reporting that the situation for food and water supply on the island is improving. Unfortunately, while supplies may be available, many extended King family members are having difficulty recovering financially, which results in even more difficulties in securing essentials for daily living. When asked for the best course of action for King to take, the group overwhelmingly responded...”money”. Money for repairs on homes without insurance coverage, and money for those who are struggling from employment loss.
Financial Aid Help
King is donating $10,000.00 to King family member’s extended families impacted by Maria. We would like to challenge the King community and the greater lower Fairfield County community at large to give another $5,000.00 through contributing to this dedicated gofundme page.
The funds will be systematically distributed to the roughly 50 directly impacted King Industries family members based on their individual needs.
Financial aid methods:
1. This GoFundMe page (for King and non-King people)
2. Cash or check drop off to the King Industries, Inc. building 10 front desk. (only for King people)
Supply Donations
Other efforts are ongoing for supply donations with the Norwalk Fire Department and King Industries accepting gifts of water, toiletries, diapers, mosquito spray, and batteries if donating supplies is more your speed.
The Norwalk Fire Depart will be taking donations until Dec. 2nd. at 121 Connecticut Ave. Norwalk, CT 06852
King will have a satellite donation center in the lobby of building 10 for King Industries employees.
Supplies dropped at either location must be dropped by Dec. 2nd.
King will ship this container directly to Uduado, one of the more devastated and remote areas of inland Puerto Rico, where Charlie Reyes and local police officer Hector Delgado will assist the local church pastor in coordinating efforts to distribute the supplies to families in need.
