Kingsbury Elementary School is an incredible place to teach and learn. Kingsbury's vision of a multi-cultural, student-centered community comes to life in the hard working teachers, students, and parents of this Memphis neighborhood. It is truly a joyful place to learn.
Students are engaged in meaningful learning at Kingsbury, but my hope is to extend their experiences beyond their academics. Extra-curricular activities are a great opportunity for kids to grow socially and learn valuable life lessons. Unfortunately many extra-curricular activities come with a cost, which limits the options for families who come from low-income households. By donating to this project, financial barriers could be broken.
What We're Starting:
Kingsbury Elementary School would like to start an after-school soccer club. The program will be available for 3-5 graders, however, younger students will benefit from the equipment during their recess times.
What We Need:
Through generous donations, we will be able to purchase two sets of soccer goals. A smaller set of goals will be placed in the playground and used by K-2 grade. A larger set of goals will be used by 3-5 graders. A set of smaller, portable goals, jerseys, balls, and cones will be purchased for training during the after school program.
