Kingsleys Laser Treatment!
Donation protected
Hi all
As most of you know, our 11 week old son was born with a Port wine stain birthmark, glaucoma and recently been diagnosed with Sturge Weber syndrome, a very rare neurological disease.
He has already had three MRI’s, been put under twice and had a glaucoma tube/shunt put into his eye.Our boy has been through so much in his short 11 weeks earthside and has a long journey ahead.
Although we think his birthmark is beautiful and barely even notice it anymore, it will darken over time and possibly get bumpy and cause further health issues, on top of everything else. Laser treatment is one of the only things that can help fade the birthmark and prevent this from happening. With this type of birthmark, early intervention is the key.We know alot of other families who have started treatment as early as 1 month and saw a 90-99% clearance on it!
Our issue is that Queensland Childrens Hospital had to close their laser treatment clinics due to covid and only recently just opened up.There is over 100 children now waiting for their laser treatments, which mean Kingsleys has been pushed back until he is 12 months+.The older he gets, the harder it’ll be to get clearance on the birthmark and also he will become more aware of what is actually happening, which could also make it more difficult.
We would love to go through a private clinic until the hospital can start their treatments with him(they are covered by Medicare at the hospital) Only thing is each treatment will cost at least $670 and on a single wage, supporting 2 children, we can’t really afford this at the moment. We would love to get atleast 2 treatments in before the hospital appointment, or most!
This is where any small amount of donation would be appreciated!!!If you cannot donate, which I completely understand - please share this to your socials to spread the word.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and are more appreciative than you will ever know!
much love , our family ❤️
